What Is A Biomagnet?

A biomagnet, often referred to as a healing magnet, is simply a magnet that is applied to the body for health benefits. They emit a static magnetic field.

Though we have discovered a lot about magnet therapy, there is still much to learn. While all experts agree that magnets work, many topics within the field of magnet therapy are controversial.

The following information is offered to help clarify what could otherwise be a confusing topic and to familiarize you with some common terminology.

Not all magnets are permanent, some are temporarily magnetized. Temporary magnets can loose their magnetism (magnetic charge). A permanent magnet makes the best healing magnet.

Neodymium magnets are the strongest permanent biomagnets available today. They are the most affordable rare earth magnet. Neodymium magnets are commonly used as healing magnets (therapy magnets).

The manufacturer will usually rate the strength of a magnet with an internal gauss rating. However, when selecting a magnet for use in magnet therapy, it is the surface gauss rating that we should be concerned with. Learn more about magnet strength and the surface gauss rating.

Depending on what the magnet is used for or how deep within the body the problem is, the amount of magnetism needed can vary. How much magnetism (gauss or tesla) is needed to benefit?

Polarity Issues

Polarity raises a lot of controversy in the field of magnetic therapy.

There is confusion about which side of the magnet is called north. Naming the magnetic poles of a biomagnet.

Some believe that bipolar magnets are more effective, while others believe that unipolar magnets are the way to go. Decide for yourself - bipolar magnets vs. unipolar magnets.

Some individuals still believe today that the south polarity of a magnet causes negative health effects. Get the facts - the magnetic north pole south pole controversy.

The poles of a magnet correspond with Yin Yang energies. Depending on the type of imbalance, a particular pole can be used to achieve balance.

Use Caution with Magnets

Be sure to utilize caution when handling magnets around items that contain magnetically stored data such as computer hard drives, floppy disks, credit cards, etc. Do not put magnets in direct contact with these items, keep them several inches away or more depending how strong the magnet is. Avoid getting fingers or skin pinched between very strong magnets.

Magnet therapy and the use of healing magnets can be used to assist the body to balance its natural magnetism and to obtain holistic health.
